Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using HumanDirectory at humandirectory.ai ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

HumanDirectory is a personal website builder that creates profile pages optimized for discovery by large language models (LLMs), AI agents, and search engines. The Service generates public profile pages with structured data, llms.txt files, and machine-readable formats designed for AI consumption.

3. Account Registration

  • You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
  • One person may not maintain more than one account.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. Your Content

4.1 Ownership

You retain ownership of all content you submit to the Service ("Your Content"). By posting content, you grant Human Directory a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute Your Content solely for the purpose of operating and providing the Service.

4.2 Public Nature of Profiles

You understand and agree that profile pages are publicly accessible by design. Your profile content will be:

  • Visible to anyone on the internet.
  • Crawlable and indexable by search engines and AI systems (including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity).
  • Published in machine-readable formats (structured data, llms.txt) specifically designed for AI discoverability.

4.3 Content Responsibility

You are solely responsible for Your Content. You agree not to post content that:

  • Is false, misleading, or impersonates another person.
  • Infringes on intellectual property rights of any third party.
  • Contains malicious code, spam, or unauthorized advertising.
  • Is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, threatening, or otherwise objectionable.
  • Violates any applicable law or regulation.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the Service except through our published APIs and machine-readable endpoints.
  • Create profiles for the purpose of misleading AI systems or manipulating search results.
  • Use the Service to engage in SEO spam, keyword stuffing, or other manipulative practices.

6. Paid Plans & Billing

6.1 Subscriptions

Certain features of the Service may require a paid subscription. By subscribing to a paid plan, you agree to pay the applicable fees as described at the time of purchase. All fees are quoted in US dollars unless otherwise stated.

6.2 Recurring Billing

Paid subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, depending on the plan you select). Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date.

6.3 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to paid features until the end of that period.

6.4 Refunds

Payments are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us at hello@humandirectory.ai within 14 days of the charge and we will review your request.

6.5 Price Changes

We may change subscription fees at any time. Price changes will take effect at the start of the next billing period following notice to you. If you do not agree to the price change, you may cancel your subscription before it renews.

7. AI & Machine-Readable Data

HumanDirectory generates machine-readable representations of your profile (including structured data, llms.txt, and agent.json) to facilitate AI discovery. You acknowledge that:

  • HumanDirectory does not guarantee that your profile will be referenced, cited, or surfaced by any AI system, search engine, or third-party platform. We provide the tools and formats to maximize discoverability, but whether any external system chooses to crawl, index, or cite your profile is entirely outside our control.
  • We do not own, operate, or control any third-party crawlers, AI models, or search engines. Their behavior, crawl frequency, indexing decisions, and content policies are determined solely by those third parties.
  • We cannot control how third-party AI systems use, interpret, or present your profile data once it has been crawled.
  • AI-generated summaries or responses about you may not always be accurate or up to date.
  • Removal of your profile from our Service does not guarantee removal from AI training data or cached responses.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, features, code, and branding, is owned by HumanDirectory and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we determine violates these Terms or is harmful to the Service, other users, or third parties. Upon termination:

  • Your profile will be removed from the Service.
  • Your right to use the Service will immediately cease.
  • We may retain certain data as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

You may delete your account at any time through your profile settings.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that:

  • Your profile will appear in any specific AI system or search engine.
  • The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
  • AI systems will accurately represent your profile information.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, HumanDirectory and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or reputation, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless HumanDirectory from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

13. Data Protection & Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and share your personal data.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you may have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including:

  • The right to access, correct, or delete your personal data.
  • The right to restrict or object to certain processing of your data.
  • The right to data portability.
  • The right to withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.

13.2 Consent to Public Data Access

By creating and publishing a profile on HumanDirectory, you explicitly consent to your profile data being:

  • Publicly accessible on the internet without any authentication or access restriction.
  • Served in machine-readable formats (JSON, structured data, llms.txt, plain text) specifically designed for automated consumption.
  • Crawled, indexed, cached, and referenced by third-party AI systems, search engines, and automated agents.
  • Used by third parties to generate summaries, answers, or citations about you in AI-generated responses.

This consent constitutes the legal basis for processing your profile data under the GDPR. You understand that this public accessibility is a core feature of the Service, not a side effect. You may withdraw this consent at any time by unpublishing or deleting your profile, but this will not affect data already crawled or cached by third parties.

14. Dispute Resolution

If you have a dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, you agree to first attempt to resolve it informally by contacting us at hello@humandirectory.ai. We will try to resolve the dispute informally within 30 days.

If the dispute is not resolved within 30 days, either party may pursue formal proceedings. You agree that any legal action or proceeding shall be brought exclusively in the courts of competent jurisdiction, and you consent to the jurisdiction of such courts.

You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action.

15. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles.
